Jasper.ai Review (2023) – Is it Really the all round Best AI tool for Copywriting?

Irrespective of any type of online business you run or the traffic channel you target, whether it be paid advertising, email marketing, or organic SEO, Copywriting is an indispensable part of it. It is perhaps the most vital in determining the conversion rates of your traffic. 

While a good sales or marketing copy can do wonders to your conversion rates, a bad one can do more harm than good. It not only results in awful conversion rates but also damages the overall value of your brand in the eyes of your prospects.

So, when I first heard of Jasper.ai, I was pretty skeptical initially to try it out as I thought I was just one among the many similar tools. However, right from the start of using it, it just felt different from others.

Everything looked more polished and genuinely felt like a product that has been through a lot of development hours, training of the AI & testing. It made me dive deep into the tool and test it further to see how good it really is and if we finally have a standalone AI copywriting tool that's genuinely impressive to use. 

Let us find the answer to it in this review. Without any further delay, let us get right into it and see in detail with regards to the user interface, features, pricing, and customer support. 

User Interface and Features

Once the initial sign-up is done, you get a short onboarding and asked a few questions on the type of industry and whom you intend to use Jasper for, personal, agency, or your own business. You need to add an account name and your domain as well. 

Once it is completed, the main dashboard is very well laid out with rows of templates that are clearly named.

Blog Post Intro

The first template I tried is the blog post introduction paragraph, where I wanted a short beginning on a post on mapping & planning of sales funnels.

You have to enter the details on the product you want to write about for reference, the target audience for the content, the title of the post, and the tone you wish the post to be. It could be something along the lines of Professional, Educational, Funny, etc. 

The intro paragraph was ready within a few tens of seconds. My expectation was quite low, but I was genuinely surprised at how good the copy was. Yeah, it needs some editing to match your exact tone and writing style, but the crux of the content is generated which really is the crucial and time-consuming part.

You can copy the generated content to the clipboard right from the dashboard or add it to favorites to easily access it later. 

This is just a simple example of how you can use Jasper in your writing workflow. You can accomplish much harder and more time-consuming tasks like long-form content, email copy, sales letter copy, etc. 

Blog Post Topics, Meta Description & Conclusion

You can also generate topic ideas for new blog posts with Jasper. It is important that you give as much description about the products as possible to get good ideas.

You can also enter a few of your own ideas as examples as a way to inform Jasper about the type of topics you are looking for. In my testing, you get better topics when you enter at least one or two examples.

In addition to the post outline and title, you can also generate the Metadata description with Jasper. It is important that you enter your primary target keyword here to get an apt meta description. 

Jasper can also write a fitting conclusion for your blog posts. I tried it for one of my posts on the best alternatives for Intercom for live chat and the output was fantastic. 

It is important to provide a good brief of what your blog post is about and you can also provide a call to action you need to drive more engagement to the post. 

Marketing Frameworks

The Marketing Framework templates are particularly useful in building sales letters for your product launches and campaigns.

As it follows a tried and tested formula to generate interest and leads, you can be sure of the quality and just do minor editing before publishing the content. It is definitely one of its USPs of Jasper when compared to other similar tools. 

AIDA is one of the frameworks available in Jasper. You get well-defined content for each section on Attention, Interest, & Desire to further work on and refine to get the final output. These can be very useful to come up with ad content within very short notice for yourself or your clients.

PAS Framework works in a similar way. PAS stands for Problem, Agitate, and Solution. It is a quick way to easily demonstrate the problem your product solves by defining the problem in detail and explaining how exactly your product or service tackles it effectively.

It is a framework that is proven to grab people's attention instantly as they can connect to the problems they face on a regular basis. All you need to do in Jasper is to just add your Company/Product name, and a brief description and Jasper will come with the copy consisting of the problem and solution you can promote. 

Another one of my favorite templates is the Persuasive Bullet Points which gives you a list of points based on your input. You can use these bullet points as an outline for a blog post and elaborate on each point to complete the post.

An additional way to get these types of marketing ideas is the Marketing Angles feature which gives you a list of content that can be used in your current marketing copy by generating fresh ideas. 

Another one of my favorite features is where you can input the general features of your product or service and Jasper will turn these features into a list of benefits for your customers.

This will help in increasing the chances of a definite action from your customers or clients rather than a bland explanation of features. 

Persuasive Bullet Points is an additional template that can work well for marketing. It gives you a list of points you can use to market or pitch your business to potential clients & customers. 

The points generated add a lot of interesting value to the copy that could definitely elevate your sales pitch. 

PPC Ads Copy

The copy for paid advertising is so crucial for higher conversion rates and notoriously difficult to get right. 

It has to go through a lot of A/B testing before you find the right content that performs well. Jasper can help you in this case to write ad headlines and descriptions for both Google & Facebook Ads. 

In the case of headlines, you get a precise and short version of your business description that can be used to grab the attention of the user. 

Alternatively, you can also use the Perfect Headline template which has been trained and refined with a lot of formulas from many copywriting principles to give you a list of headlines that can perform the best for a given business and a customer type. 

Once you have decided on the headline, you can then move on to the description copy. I tried the Facebook ad primary text template and the initial text generated was very good with a precise but in-to-the-point description of my agency. 

If you are a Real Estate Agency running ads for your clients, there is an exclusive template for it where you can provide the primary data of the property and Jasper comes up with some enticing copy that you can use for ads. 

Overall, the combination of headline and description templates for PPC Ads has the potential to save a ton of time for paid advertising agencies that manage a lot of clients. 

Personal & Company Bio

Jasper also helps in building your personal bio with minimal input from your end. You just need to enter a short description of your profile, tone of voice, and whether you need the bio written from a first or third person's viewpoint.

The more information you give on the description, the better Jasper understands you and comes up with more specific content matching your profile. 

Apart from a personal bio, Jasper can also come up with some interesting bio for your company as well. If you are a solo founder of a startup or a small business owner, this could be of huge help in building a brand with some good marketing copy. 

Long-Form Content

The long-form content assistant is another of the gems available in Jasper. It basically helps you write a whole blog post on a given topic.

The amount of time and money it could save you is quite incredible, particularly if you are a content marketing or SEO agency with multiple clients to work with. 

The first step is to give a brief description of the content, in this case, a blog post you want Jasper to write. This can be a short sentence or a fairly long description (up to 600 characters maximum).

The longer the description is, the more specific the content written by Jasper is, so try to be as specific as possible on the exact details of the post you want. You can also mention the primary keyword you are going to target with this post.  

For the title and the intro paragraph, you can either enter your own or let Jasper do it for you. As always, if you input your own title and description, the chance is higher for better content from Jasper for the blog. You get a lot of options to choose from for the title. 

It was super-impressive to see the quality of both the titles and introduction paragraphs. It's fairly accurate on what I exactly wanted and you get many options to choose from to decide on the best one. 

Once this initial setup of description, title, and introduction is completed, you can continue to let Jasper write the long-form content by opening the editor.

The editor is similar to a standard Google Dos or Word editor.  It has three modes, Focus, SEO, and Power.

The Focus Mode has only the editor at the forefront while the Power Mode displays all of your workflows and templates with a sidebar to navigate between each other.

Once you have completed the introduction paragraph of the post, it looks better to switch to the Power Mode as you can toggle better different templates easily to complete the rest of your post. 

The Document Workspace has all of the content generated in one place so that you can access it easily at any time and make edits. 

It is important that you refine and fine-tune the content at every point. You can use a plugin like Grammarly to easily spot grammatical errors and correct them on the go.

At any point, the title and the introduction of the post can be changed by clicking the Document Settings. Any change done to these will affect the content generated by Jarvis for the main content of the post.

It is important to note that at any point, Jarvis generates content based on the main title, description, and the previous 600 characters written. Therefore, please make sure that the context you want Jasper to write must be in the prior 600 characters. 

In the editor, you can choose the output length to be short, medium, or long. Medium works the best as it has the right balance of the length and quality of the content generated.

You can also collaborate on a specific workspace with your team members by inviting them. You can do it by just sharing a unique link. 

This could be incredibly useful for a content marketing agency where multiple team members have to work on a single project or a client. 

When you highlight any part of the text in the editor, it opens up a few controls by which you can,

• Add header tags,
• Reset font style,
• Re-phase the highlighted text, 
• Fix grammatical errors, 
• Simplify the highlighted sentence. 

The long-form editor also supports a few commands to instruct Jasper on certain things. For example, if you add three asterisks before starting a sentence, Jasper will ignore all the text that is written before that.

This helps to write new paragraphs that have a different context to the content already written or if you want to write a listicle post where each paragraph could be of a different product or service. It can also ensure that Jasper doesn't repeat the content generated. 

If you add two asterisks before starting a sentence, Jasper will consider that to be a header and writes a paragraph for it. 

These shortcodes/commands can be very helpful once you get a grasp of the editor to quicken the workflow and writing process. 

Jasper Boss Mode

Boss Mode in Jasper is a super-charged version of the long-form content assistant. While you get all the functionality of the long-form assistant, Boss Mode adds some fantastic features.

To start with, the content look-back increases to 2,000 to 3,000 characters in Boss Mode compared to the 600 characters in Pro Mode. That's almost a 4 to 5 times increase that helps you write content with a lot more context with the help of Jarvis. 

Secondly, Boss Mode unlocks a generate command which lets you continuously generate content without your inputs in between which is the case in the normal long-form assistant.

Jasper helps you write different types of copy for your website. You can write title and meta descriptions for the homepage, product page, services page, and sub-headings for landing pages. 

For the homepage copy, it is enough to give a brief description of the product along with the keyword you want to target. 

The sub-headline was even more impressive as it gets more context provided by you with the main headline and the tone of voice in addition to the product description. 

This can be also used in landing copy as a starting point to achieve high conversions.

Additionally, you can also use the Product Description template to assist in writing the copy for your product or service that can then be used on your website or landing page. 

If you have an e-commerce website and looking for sales copy for your products, the Amazon product description template can be handy.

Jasper just needs your product name and a brief description to provide you with multiple options to choose from for the right product description copy. If you need the content as bulleted points, there is a template for that as well.

Overall, all the main aspects of your website copy are covered in Jasper apart from specifics like contact information, pricing, etc. 

Content Improver

Jasper can also improve your existing content using the built-in Content Improver feature.

You have to just input your raw content and Jasper will provide you with improved versions of it. You can then choose the best version based on your preference.

This can be very useful when you have many VA's writing the content for you or your agency. You can treat the version you get from VA's as an initial draft and use the Content Improver to get the Final refined version of the post. 

There is another way of improving content by using the sentence expander template where you can enter a short sentence and Jasper expands it to a short paragraph. 

The two templates when combined together can help improve a lot of your existing posts and improve the search engine rankings.  

Alternatively, Jasper can also summarize a long paragraph into a short brief comprising only the crux of the content. 

This can be used when you have long paragraphs of content but needed as short bullet points to be used in a presentation, pitch deck, meeting notes, etc. 

Video Topic Ideas & Introduction

If you are more into videos than written content for your marketing needs, Jasper can help you there as well. One of the most difficult and time-consuming processes in making videos is coming up with ideas to make the content about.

Jasper can assist you by giving out a list of video topic ideas based on the keyword you want to rank for and the main topic you enter. 

Once you have decided on the video topic, you can also get an introduction for the video with the right hook to capture the attention of your audience. 

All you have to do is just enter the video title and the tone. Jasper does the rest for you and comes up with some pretty good introductions.

The right introduction to a video can make or break the engagement you get out of it, so this can be a really valuable feature.

You can also use Jasper to come up with questions that you can use to increase engagement among your audience.

If you have a Facebook group with a lot of members or a private community hosted on some other platform, it is vital to keep the members having a conversation going and these questions can be an excellent starting point for that. 

Some of the questions generated were really interesting and genuinely good enough to spike interest and engagement among your audience. 

Additionally, if you wish to run polls across the social channels be it on Facebook or LinkedIn, there is a separate template for that as well.

This again helps to keep your audience active and engaged, particularly if you run a Facebook Group or a YouTube channel where engagement could mean a lot to achieve faster growth. 

Polls can also help to segment your audience. For example, based on the answers, you can add users to different email sequences or marketing automation campaigns. 

If you are active on Quora, there is a template exclusively for that. You can give a brief input of the answer and Jasper will a detailed answer to the question. 

Also, if you want to have a very simple conversation with your audience, the 'Explain it to a Child' template can be really useful as it will completely simplify your content in a way it can be understood by everyone. 

All you need to do is to enter the text and select the output level for the level of difficulty/easing of the content.

Review Responder is another interesting template where you can write a response to a customer who has reviewed your product or service on a public review website or forum. 

If you have your product listed on platforms like TrustPilot, TripAdvisor, TrustRadius, Google My Business, G2, Capterra, etc., it is very important to respond to reviews, both positive and negative ones. 

Therefore, this template can come real handy if you have reviews coming in from all these channels.

I tried it for a luxury brand store and have to say was seriously blown away by the content generated with the minimal input I gave. 

The copy was precise and covered exactly what I wanted to convey. If you are using Pinterest as one of your main marketing & growth channels, Jasper can be of some serious help. 

Personalized Cold Emails

Jasper can also assist outreach and lead generation agencies by helping you write personalized cold emails.

Recipes are workflows that can be easily shared with your team members or other Jasper users to write content that is based on a specific structure. 

There are many recipes already available within Jasper including one for,

Once you open any of the available recipes, you can either save it to your account to keep using it repeatedly later or you can run the recipe right there to start writing.

Any Negatives? 

Although the tool is excellent, if you want to integrate its technology into one of your own products, it is currently isn't possible due to the absence of an API.

It will be a game-changer if and when the team releases an API for the product. The number of SaaS applications that could take advantage of is quite huge. 

The long-form content assistant is surely in its early stages and can be quite glitchy at times. It might show up with quite a few repeated words and sentences.

Therefore, it is imperative that you watch the content once it is generated and gets it tested through a third-party tool for grammatical errors and plagiarism. 

Another aspect they could work on is adding more native integrations, particularly with publishing tools like WordPress, Ghost, etc. for blog posts and social media content schedulers like Buffer, and Hootsuite for social media content.

It could potentially save a lot of time if users can directly publish an article or post right from Jasper without switching multiple apps. 

Although not an inherent fault of the tool but that of the background technology that powers it, the GPT-3 powered AI might not work the best if you need factual and latest content. Therefore, it is important to do an in-depth proofread and fact check of the content generated if your articles involve a lot of numbers. 

Also, it would be nice to see an Undo button implemented so that you are not at risk of losing all your work by a small mistake.
